Good handload for .270 Handi

I'm looking for a good handload recomendation for my new .270 laminated stock handi-rifle.  Most shots between 200 and 50 yards on whitetail.  I've reloaded 44mag but never rifle so I need suggestions on a good powder and bullet.

i've seen Good results with R-P brass and 130 gr' Core-Loct's with Win' primers and Win - 760 for a propellant.

I've got a Weatherby .270 Win Vanguard that allows me to call my shots.

I'd expect the same from a good Handi'.

For longer shots, longer than 300 yds,  I'd go with a Hornady spire point in 130 gr's for the better ballistic coefficient.    But a Core-Loct is certainly good for 300 yds' at a reasonable velocity.   It's just harder to estimate 'holdover' when making those longer shots if the 'bc' isn't high enough.

If you go down to the "handloading for rifles and pistols" forum you will find a guy that knows quite alot about the 270. I went with his recommendation of IMR 4831. I'm working with the 140 gr. Fail Safe, and 130 gr. Speer BTSP

I am a couple of weeks behind you in regards to finding a 270 load (but for a Stevens 200). I am personally deciding between 130 tsx or 140 accubond, my 270 will primarily be a deer gun but I am thinking  I would like it to be a "sometimes elk" gun too (in case the 338 is out of commission).  But if it is just a deer gun I would not be too quick to buy a premium bullet. But regardless of what bullet I use h4831 will be the first powder to try.

One thing to watch out for when loading for a Handi, The ones I have show a tendency to be load sensitive. Meaning .5 of a grain + or - and the groups open up. I use a book called pet loads and the writer would test bullet powder combinations and report on the good ones. With bolt guns I have always been pleased with the results (mind you I am getting pickyer). But with a handi you need to find your own so use the standard procedure. Start at the starting load listed, then up .5 till max -1 grain then up by .2 or .3 . I am cheap so I only do 3 shot groups but it is worth the effort.

My 270 loads are as follows.

General purpose bumming-around-load
60gr H4831SC under Hornady 130gr SP  3000fps

Pinpoint accuracy/long range
54gr IMR-4350 under 140gr Hornady 140gr BTSP  2900 fps

Big critters
58gr H4831 under 150gr Partition  2850fps.

These are for a M700 Tupperware Special.
