Graybeard,

Here's hoping that you didn't have any troubles today with the hurricane. Don't know where you are in Alabama but hope all is well. Keep that powder dry.

Best regards,

Nope not over my way. I'm within 20 miles or so of the GA line I'm so far east in Bama and up in the northern part of the eastern side. All we got was a little rain and some light winds. Most real summer thunderstorms are worst than this was here. Now over on the western side of the state they got some serious bad weather.

I doubt we got even 2" of rain and winds may have reached 20 mph but not much if any over.

We had more wind over night and now this morning with the storm up in TN and now in KY than when it was over in MS and in Bama. This morning I noticed a swing set over turned by the wind. This happens to it often. I have a young (15-18 year old) oak near my house that lost perhaps the top 12' or so of the main truck last night.

About 20 miles or so from me as the crow flies in the small area known as White Plains a tornado touched down yesterday afternoon. It destroyed some homes but as far as I know no one was injured.

So far my rain total is only about 3/4" and it doesn't look like anymore will fall here. Now the folks down on the gulf coast just plain got pounded.

I've heard that nearly 40,000 people are without power in the Anniston area which is the largest city in my county and about 15 miles from me.

I live about 10 miles east of Graybeard and here we had pretty high winds, power outages, and a big old dead tree fell on my workshop resulting in major damage to the roof, soffet, and siding.  My driveway is a 1/4 mile long and I must have picked up a ton of downed limbs and storm trash.
