I work with many car dealers, and regardless of make, they have seen a large increase in sales. Many of my GM dealers, a very low on inventory now.
Those of you looking at GMC and Chevy, might be interested to know, that because of the higher standard equipment level on a GMC, that if you are looking at a loaded truck the GMC will list slightly less than a Chevy that is optioned up to the same equipment level. If you are looking at base level truck the Chevy will list for less.
As most will be trading a vehicle in, be aware of the value of your trade. Having worked with dealers for almost 30 years, I can tell you they are relying on your emotion of wanting, just remember the dealer needs to sell the vehicle, so if you can walk away your trade can increase in value.
Another thing some may find of interest is, that because of accounting methods, few dealers actual show new vehicle sales as a profit center. Also if you examine GMs financials, the most profitable entity is GMAC, their financial operations, not only does GMAC make your loan they also finance and insure most GM dealers inventories, and quite a few of the dealership facilities.
