Hey, I bought a limited edition?
« on: August 30, 2005, 02:47:08 PM »
I purchased my handi today in .270 with green laminated stock.  I really didn't pay much attention to the gold badge on the stock and just noticed it says Limited Edition!  I was searching around here and it sounds like it just has different stocks is that correct?  I already did the trigger lightening mod, and cleaned it, looking to break in the barrel this weekend.  I've been reading about this o-ring mod but I wasn't comfortable with the front screw not tightened down good.  I'm not looking to change out barrels and I also noticed the forend didn't free float past the forearm screw.  I used a small washer to shim the forearm so now I can fit a dollar bill between the forearm and barrel from the screw forward.  I'm assuming this should help accuracy since it's now free floated?  Also I ordered the survivor stock to try out too.  Guess I caught the bug!

Congrats on the new Ultra!! The only difference in the limited edition that I know of is the medallion in the stock...Out of curiosity, what's the barrel length? I have a 35 Whelen RMEF limited edition with a 26" barrel, was wondering if any of the other limited editions might come with 26" barrels instead of the standard 22".

thx

Congrats on the 270. I'm working on my second one now. My first was a real shooter. I haven't had a chance to really shoot this one yet so its still a work in progress. As Quick said how long is the barrel and what colors are in the stocks?

I don't have it right in front of me, I'll put a tape on it tonight and let you know.  It doesn't seem very long, I'm guessing 22 or 24".  They had one without the medallion on it on the rack and I asked if he had the same gun in a box that wasn't handled.  He came back with the one I bought and I didn't notice the medallion till I got home.  I'm not complaining though!
