NEF/H&R Rechambering Question - 219 Wasp
« on: September 02, 2005, 04:21:53 AM »
Hello Members:  I am posting this question for an acquaintance who had a specific question that I thought some of our members might be able to answer:

Is it possible to rechamber an NEF single shot from say 223 to 219 Donaldson Wasp ?

I was going to build a martini actioned 219 wasp but the NEF new is cheaper than the custom-rifle-on-a-martini by miles .And I have the reamer and dies and cases already ....

Thanks in advance for any info you might be able to provide.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me into the great outdoors.

NEF/H&R Rechambering Question - 219 Was

The Donaldson Wasp is 45thou shorter than the 223. The Wasp reamer wont clean up the neck and throat.
Make it into a 219 Zipper or 225 or 22-250 or the 222 REm Mag.

If you had a 22 Hornet barrel, the Wasp would be a good conversion

But best just leave it 223.

Start with a Hornet not a 223 and the conversion should work fine you'll need to fit a 30-30 extractor too I think.

Good luck

I took 22 hornet Made 219 Zipper, worked fine, Put 30-30
Ejector in Cut slot out for ejector with dermal tool thin grinding
blade. I found 25-35 brass worked better than 30-30 brass.
