I have a Colt Sauer .375 H&H Grand Alaska. The stock split several years ago, and I wish to find a blank...so that I might be able to work it into a stock. I have heard of others that had had the same problem with the stocks splitting. Any help would be appreciated! (mclaurnt@hotmail.com)

Perhaps repairing the existing stock is also an option. Most stock companies can provide the blank you want. The most expensive will have beauty AND great grain flow.. That's a really tough to find combo these days. I trust the folks at Wenigs in Lincoln, Missouri. Fred and his people are all gun people and honest to deal with. I threw the broken stock away several years ago. The design of it by the Colt firearms company was poorly engineered. In the tang area there was not enought wood to hold it all together.. I'm not a stock maker...but I figure during the course of an Alaskan winter I will be able to form it into a thing of beauty. I've even considered taking down some of the barrel length and making a manlilicher out of it. I already have a .375 Sako manlicher and with it's power and length...it makes a powerful weapon for tight cover and critters that bite.

It sure would be diffficult to find a slicker action than a colt sauer!! Sti; stock design and inletting well are not just a matter of labor and time.. I'm sure it'll work out just fine.
