Thanks for sharing. I'd like to hit something with my bowling ball mortar, for scientific purposes of coarse

Powder Keg,

I'd like you to hit something with your bowling ball mortar too and post your scientific discoveries on here of course. Only problem for you would be finding targets big enough to see what's left after the hit.

Devil Dog!

How about a picture of the gun and projectiles!  Be sure to copy the link called IMG and post it from photobucket. That link is pre coded for direct entry and display on Graybeards.

Did you recover the projectiles? What did they look like.

You worry me, are you sending those bowling balls into low earth orbit?? If, they hit the ground, show us the POI.

Here is the POI of a 6 PDR ball from the mould you made.  That also is the ball I sent you.

When they shoot the Mortars at Ft. Shenadoah you should see the mud fly

DD,

I'll post some pics of the ball probably tomorrow, have to charge the batts in my digi cam first... they died when I was trying to figure out the whole posting of pics thing. That was a MK 19 ammo lid by the way, they're pretty beefy for anyone that has not seen one in person, the 2x4 piece was behind it.

Here's the impact of two rounds of 4.5" PVC pipe filled with concrete - at 100 yards hitting a (private) gravel road.  Not the gravel dispersed from the point of impact.  About half the shell is showing.  Difference in range - a few inches, difference in azimuth - about 6 feet.
