scope rings
« on: September 09, 2005, 04:49:34 PM »
I'm thinking about mounting a Swift premier 4-12x40mm scope on a H&R fluted ultra varmint rifle.  What height will I need for the rings, and what brand should I go with?

I want to make sure I stay away from anything that will bind the scope tube, and I don't want to spend a lot.

Also, is there any particular method you use to mount a scope for the first time?

thx.
When the whole world is crashing down around me, atleast I'll have my SKS.

I have the exact scope on a bull barreled 223 handi.  I used medium Burris Signature Z rings but had to grind about .080 inch off the very top of the hammer spur and a portion of the hammer extention to get it to clear the eye bell on the scope.  The signature z rings have the plastic insert that keeps you from trashing the scope tube if the rings are not perfectly aligned.  Larry
