hey myron....wisconsin being what it is with such varied terrain and all....is mainly still going to pocket areas of pheasants no matter how ya slice it in my opinion. i happen to have a good area to hold pheasants, so me n a neighbor release them alot. in the last 5 years we've let over 500 go. we figure 50% are sticking around, and 50% of those sticking around are lost to predation, and in the last two years we have been seeing hatchlings. its grewat to see growth with our efforts. we layed off hunting them for the first 3 years or so...and now only take about 5 a year between the both of us. i hate to say this, but you wont ever see growth like that in many counties in wi. buffalo country for instance may be great turkey and deer habitat, but pheasants just wont really ever be real big there due to the layt of the land...the birds will poscket in small areas and be easy pickings for yotes and fox. just my 2cents.
