levergun tang sight
« on: August 28, 2005, 12:40:16 PM »
:D Hello folks,
First time on this message site.  Am wanting to play with my '73 Win., 32-20, in the levergun silhouette game.  Too old to be competitive, but can't see the front sight that well, anymore, so would need a tang sight.

Due to limited resources (to be read, poor!), looks like about all I can barely afford would be the Lyman No.2.  In your experience (s), is it repeatable and not just money down the ole' tube?

Thanks for your input.  Keep 'em in one spot!

This may not be what you want to hear, but I think you'd be better off to go with a Williams FP receiver sight or just save up a little longer and find a good deal on a Marbles tang sight if you want a tang sight. I know of a few people who have bought those Lyman tang sights, but none that still use them.

receiver sight?

Hey Jason, I have been looking for a reciver sight for my 1873, but can't find a model number that will fit in either Lyman or Williams charts.  I have tried the tang sight, but do no like the cramped grip and next to the eyeball aperture.  Can you suggest a receiver model that might work?  Thanks, Michael

I'm thinking of going with an MVA sight.  Their stuff is 1st notch with everything else they make and I am hoping their copy of the Marbles works as well as the rest of their equipment.

I don't really like the Lyman sights so I don't know as much about those. I don't see one in the Williams chart to fit an 1973, but a quick call to Williams would tell you whether one of their sights will fit it. I've had the same issue before and a couple minutes on the phone with them had a sight headed my way that fit perfectly.
