Doe antelope falls to the Huntsman!
« on: September 11, 2005, 11:53:30 AM »
I just got back from the Wyoming Antelope hunt. I had a doe antelope permit which was filled within three hours of the opening day. I was able to get a good shot on a doe at 112 yards. ( I had a laser range finder that gave me the range) The Huntsman did not fail. The antelope was hit in the chest and she dropped in her tracks. The load I was using was a 250 grain Shock-wave and two pyrodex pellets with a Winchester 209 primer. I will be going on the muzzleloader mule deer hunt in 16 days.... I will give a report when I get back.

Mangulator,

Congratulations on the doe antelope, I've never been hunting for them, but sometime before I die, I hope to as I hear they taste great depending on what they eat.  I raised the question a couple posts down wondering about what kind of tips you guys use on your ramrods to load the shockwave/sst bullets.  Is there a special tip you can buy, or did you make something that would work with the factory rod to keep from messing up the bullet?  Inquiring minds want to know.  Thanks.

Cattleskinner, I had a friend of mine that had access to a drill press. He drilled the tip so the jag had a concave appearance and it works great... And for taste on the antelope, if you can get the the goat skinned fast and cooled its not to bad. The trick is try to get the animal before it's run all day....
