Just curious what you folks think about Ruger's new 45 auto that's been slimmed down quite a bit?

45 ACP 230-gr. Double Tap Gold Dot = 1,010 fps / 15.3" & .95"    :D

I think it offers those who carry concealed a great option since most Rugers are pretty fat. I was doing the paperwork on one but at the last minute I got a p90 instead which I just adore. I heard 345's have had alot of problems with some owners but I'm sure they'll get them straightend out in time and it will prove to be a very fine gun.

Decided to buy a NIB KP345PR with M-6 Tactical Laser / Light Combo from StreamLight and am very pleased with the quality of this new design.

When comparing it to the 9mm Glocks, the Ruger was 1/8" thinner, even slimmer than most other manufactures' compacts too - like the Taurus Millennium Pro and etc.....

Plan of trying it out at the range this week and will CCW with one of the following brands of ammo for self defense:

* Double Tap 45 ACP 230-gr. Gold Dot JHP @ 1,010 fps = 15.3" & .95"

* Ranger T 230-gr. +P (RA45TP) @ 990 fps = 15.3" & .86"

* Ranger T 230-gr. (RA45T) @ 890 fps = 15.1" & .80"

* Golden Saber 230-gr. @ 885 fps = 15.0" & .79"
45 ACP 230-gr. Double Tap Gold Dot = 1,010 fps / 15.3" & .95"    :D

Aim for the Triangle Area between armpits & throat.

Great pistol. Never had a minutes problem with this or any other Ruger semi. My 345 functions flawlessly and is plenty accurate. Good choice. You'll like it. :grin:

:D Hey there 345 shooters,

Like my 345 just fine!

The only problem I have had was with my first batch of 230gr. cast handloads.

Ran the rest of that batch through a Lee "Carbid Factory Crimp Die" and no more problem!  Every thing is operating just smooooooother then glass.

Know this will twist some folks crank, but last time out I also shot my friends Sig 220 with some of the cast loads. Expected some big  differences because of the much higher cost of the Sig, but none showed up.  Both of the autos functioned well and as far as I could see/feel   there was no difference in the two.

Keep em coming! :lol:

Don't know the details. I was at the counter in a gunshop doing an out of state transfer when they had the exploded gun on the counter. They were going to send the gun back to Ruger along with the ramainder of the factory ammo that was being fired when it happened.

I think Ruger was going to try and determine if it was the gun or the ammo.
