Scope rings interchangable?
« on: October 19, 2005, 02:26:04 PM »
I'm having a problem...

I had a Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x32 mounted on my Weaver 1" scope rings and one piece base. I just got a new Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40. For some reason I'm having a hard time getting the rings on this new scope. Are the two scopes different tube sizes? Bushnell does not specify tube size for the Trophy...I'm stuck...am I doing something wrong?  :(

I assume that these are the type that hook on one side and screw on the other.  They are a pain in the butt.  I would try spreading the strap a little to fit over the tube.  The real fun will come when you try to tighten them and the scope turns!

Yea, those are the type of mounts I'm talking about...maybe I'll try that.

Anybody else?

It works a little easier if you put the top half on the scope then slide them into place after you set the scope in the bottom part. As opposed to trying to hook the ring and get it over the tube at the same time. They are very strong rings, but today there are too many other cheap options that work better and pose less of a threat to scratch the tube during assembly. Sgtt's suggestion to spread the top is a good idea, but just go only as far as needed no farther

Well I took it to my gunsmith today, out of frustration, and he got them on fine (of course I wasn't in view when he did it). Now I'm gonna go sight it in.

Thank you for the input fellas  :D
