Will a adl long action off a syn. stock work on a adl wood stock long action?Had a syn adl and got a nice walnut adl stock was going to change them out,guess this is a dumb question. Both stocks are for 270 win.

It should fit with no problems. The only concern would be the action screw washers and triggerguard. If you stock's trigger guard and washer can be used on the wood stock or if the wood stock comes with them all will work out. Also remember, there are no stupid questions. If you don't know for certain ask! If we can help we most certainly will.

I have done switch the other way.  300 win mag with wood stock changed to newer synthetic stock.  Due to years the guns were made, there were a few minor differences that required fitting.   Customer wanted to keep his wood stock cleaned up and looking good.  Wanted to be able to carry gun in synthetic stock without all the worries about dinging it up in rough country or when carrying it on his horse.  Minor fitting and filling with a JB weld and it came out looking real nice.  

The only way you will really know is to get a set of screwdrivers and try the swap.

'Drop in' stocks are few and far between. It's possible and the 700 action is likely the easiest to get a drop in fit to work with, it's still iffy. Even if all fits well I'k likely bed the recoil areas and make certain the action is correctly supported.

I would suggest shopping around for a take-off first.
I found a take-off wood for my ADL from another forum member.  His trash was my treasure.     :)

The wood stock i got is a ADL wood stock so maybe it will work ,what are your thoughs on this?

Give it a try. There are sometimes minor manufacturing differences even  between rifles with consequtive serial numbers. Just give it a try, it should work OK...

I swapped and ADL synthetic into a 700 Classic stock and the bolts were too short.  As Gunnut says the stock washers were the issue with the wooden stock.  The synthetic compressed or was just a hair thinner.  If I remember right I asked Remington for them and got them.
