I normally use either Warne or Leupold.

The Warne Maxima series are VERY VERY strong and HEAVY DUTY - in fact, they look very similar to the Talley rings and bases. As such, the Warne mounts are indeed heavy, which I don't mind, but some other people do.

Leupolds are lighter and, in my opinion, not as strong, but still very good - especially the Dual Dovetail rings.

What do you use?

I personally use and like the Leupold Dual Dovetail. Thing is I have never used anything else.

I have had good luck with Weaver rings/bases.

Acutally, when I was creating the poll, I knew that I forgot another major manufactuer (Weaver). That's why I put in "Other" as a catch-all. Thanks for your post Softpoint. :grin:

WEAVER of course can find them everywhere and they work on all but the hardest recoiling rifles made.

I like the Burris Signature rings with the inserts, I buy a box of extra inserts so when I bore scope my scope is pretty close to zero before I go to the range. I have a set on my Remington 700 7-08 and my Howa 308 and have had no problems with them.

I have always been a bit skeptical about those inserts. Don't get me wrong - they sound like a great idea, and from what I have been told, they work quite well. However, my concern is how long will they last? I would think that exposure to the elements - heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity, etc. - would cause the inserts to deteriorate, and thus allow a scope, over some period of time, to slip. Is this a legitimate concern?

You just might be right on that point, but since I'm 60 yrs old if will be here after I'm dead and gone, but really I do see your point and its valid, I guess I just never thought about the long haul. I do put alot of gun time in during the summer at the range, but only hunt with it a few times in the fall.

Cant i pick more than one? Ive decided im gonna go with leoplod QRW's on my new rifle. I think the cross slot is a stout design, and they look sweet. Besides being detachable.

Leupold Dual Dovetail rings on my model 70, Weaver bases and Burris Zee rings on my Win. M52B repro. There may be stronger rings and bases than the DD but I like less screws to come loose. The less the parts,the less the problems. KISS :wink:

What is a Leoplod? Could it be a subsidiary of Leupold or a new accessory in the product line.

Naw, its a custom design scope ring i made with a cutting torch, craftsman 1/2" drive sockets and a stick welder. :grin:
