The 338 ultra trigger pull
« on: October 16, 2005, 03:34:27 AM »
My 338 RUM has a 9lb trigger pull while in the stock take it out of the stock and it has 4lb pull. I have checked for anything rubbing there is nothing rubbing. I thought about the screws being to tight so I backed out a turn or two, no difference. I will send it to Remington if I can't solve this.
Any Ideas? :D

One thing to look for is maybe the stock is improperly inletted in the trigger area.  If there is even the slightest pressure somewhere, it could cause some trigger problems.  Are you sure there is no contact between the stock and the trigger where there shouldn't be?  Being there could be some contact inside the stock, it might not be easily visible.

If it turns out to be the trigger, maybe consider having a custom trigger either from Timney or Rifle Basix installed.  The trigger might have a problem when it is in the stock, or might be defective.  I would think it better to try installing a new one.  If the problem still persists, give the factory a call.

Well I took it to a gunsmith I know and he found the problem. It was like you said Patriot_1776 the action was binding from being missalined. He is going to bed the action and float the barrel for me. :D
