I recall the first time I considered buying a muzzleloader, I called the customer hotline at Cabela's for help in deciding what to purchase. I only knew I wanted something that was traditional, more or less, for deer hunting. I was given some good advice (Did I want to shoot patch and ball, or sabots, Did I want an Inline or Percussion action?)....you get the idea. Ended up with a Cabela's brand (Traditions) percussion lock 50 cal. with a twist rate that would be used for sabots and conicals.
Now , in your case, I would call Cabela's and ask for a walk-through on the whole starter kit that you purchased. In my case, I bought their starter kit also, and they ended up sending me sabots, bullets, bore cleaner solvents-2 types, 2-primer carriers...one for #11 and one for musket caps, and powder dispenser. I still had to go out to a local store and pick up patches, powder measure, powder (first time I got Hodgdon pellets), and borebutter. There are allot of incidentals that you need once you begin using and cleaning the smoke pole. Just make the phone call and talk to someone who can walk you through all the questions, or throw them out to us here and we'll try to help you get started!
