safety on new 336?

on the new marlins,do you still have the half cock just like the older presafety models?if so,can you just ignore the new safety or does it engage automaticly?thanks. sj :?

My 336CB (2nd in pic) was mfg in 1999, and the 1895GS (bottom) was mfg in 2004. They both have the cross bolt safety, and both have a half cock like those Marlins made prior to the crossbolt safety.

The crossbolt safety does NOT engage automatically.....it's strictly a manual safety that is your choice whether to use it or not.

There are ways to defeat the safety, which is what I've decided to do. I've installed "O" rings on the safety groove, which prevents its use.  Mine operate exactly like the pre-safety Marlins.
