IMO this is one time plain black iron sights don't get it. Try and pick a spot on a deer with it's winter coat in the snow. Those black sights blend in to me.

While I have used scopes in the past, I voted for iron sights.  With the type of hunting I do, and the area that I hunt, it is so much easier, and faster to use iron sights as opposed to any optical sights.

Traditional fixed iron sights on a Single Action in .45lc.  Just developed a load that will shoot to Point of Aim at 50yds and use it out to about 75 yds if necessary. Truthfuly, most of my shots are under 50ft insted of yds, but I regulary shoot out to 100yds with the gun just for fun and to know where it hits.

all my hunting handguns have normal handgun scopes on them but 1 and that is the 10 inch 45-410 contender.
I have used iron sights to hunt buy i have trouble getting a good hot on animalswith them

Well that depends on my hunting situation in the deep wood I use my VAQUREO 45 Colt. Open fields S&W 8 3/8 incher top off with a leupold. Still hunting I usely stick with iron sight. 3 guns for 3 hunting situation :grin:  :grin:

:cb2: If nice and close I like a gold bead front, with a notched V rear with a white post.

On my scoped gun, I had a 3x, but this Summer I put a red dot on it. However, I was having so much trouble getting that red dot zeroed in, I might just go back to the scope. That red dot sure did seem like a good idea at the time.

I only use iron sights on my revolvers. I love the "handiness" of an open sighted revolver. A scope just adds weight, and even worse, bulk, to a gun that I don't plan on shooting much beyond 50 yards with anyway.

I'll fully admit that I could likely shoot way better groups with a scoped revolver, but that'd likely just cause me to start stretching my ranges farther than I needed to. I like hunting with iron sighted revolvers for the same reasons I used to bow hunt. It forces me to get very close to game before I can take a shot. I like the "up close, and personal" side of hunting.
