Barrel prices?
« on: September 21, 2005, 03:46:39 PM »
Been reading this forum for a while and finally had a question. I have some barrels that I don't use much but have no idea what to ask if I were to sell them. Some are .450 marlin with dies and 100 cases, 7x57 with dies, plenty of cases, Bushnell banner 3x9x50, 7x64 with dies. 90 cases, rings. , 25-06 with dies, plenty of cases, BSA 4x16x40AO, 30-30AI with dies, plenty of formed cases, rings, .243 with dies, plenty of cases, rings. .357 MAX. with plenty of brass. .44mag with plenty of brass, etc.....Any thoughts? They are all clear-coated and have no sights, no rust, scratches etc.....

That's quite a treasure trove you've got there.

I'd suggest 80 shipped for any current production barrel plus whatever you feel the glass attached to it is worth to you.

The non-production ones might easily bring half again or double that.

You can offer them singly on the classifieds, start high and you can always come down.

You need to pay attention to the rules in the stickys on the classified forum especially the statement  you can read in the system-wide message box at the top of every panel on this site.

You could most likely get more on ebat but I personally wouldn't soil myself dealing with that crowd of hustlers and antis.  I'd "keep it in the family" if you know what I mean.

      If you don't, well,...

PS: Welcome to the forum... I think.

Well I would say at least a $100.00 for the barrel (in good shape) and I would try an get what I could for the scope. I would say at least $25.00 less than what you paid for it as minimum. I would also try the NEF classifieds but, make sure you post all firearms must be shipped FFL to FFL or sold face where legal.

Hi justme, Welcome to the forum.

That is quite a collection. I am curious about the clear coat you mention. Could you say more about what that is?

And if/when you decide to put them up for sale, I'd be interested in a couple of them. I sent you a PM about them.

      Thanks
      Kerry

offer them to forum members at $ 25.00 ea and I am sure you won't have any problem getting rid of any of them.

On a more serious note to buy a fitted barrel from the factory will cost about 115 bucks plus S&H.  [/b]

Hey guys, thanks for the replies and PMs. I will try to figure out some pricing and get back with you all on a first come first serve basis. I have a boatload of these rifles and plenty of others and the safe is FULL! I shoot a lot but I find myself shooting pistols and a few favorite rifles mostly. Heres a few pics of my favorite NEF. I tossed it together from parts. It has a camo squire stock set that I inlaid a medallion the NRA sent me (what else are you supposed to do with those things?) 38-55 barrel with Williams FP TK rear sight, 17A front sight, metal trigger guard and fore end piece, <2lb. trigger, and shot filled stock for better balance. I use a 255GC sized .379 and 20g. of 4198 and it shoots really well. A friend with much better eyesight than I put 5 shots in 3/4" at 100 yards once and made me look silly. I can do inch and a half when my eyes allow. I've been meaning to try some black powder in it for a while now......

As soon as you get some pricing please email me at bestfndrguy@yahoo.com or just post to the NEF/H&R Classifieds section below. You are not gonna have any problems at all selling those barrels here.

That's a really nice looking piece especially with the medallion inlaid you did a nice job there.

If you decide to try black powder, there is a link here somewhere that quick posted, to a site by a guy who shoots the sooty stuff in his 45-70.

              Here it is:

I've been looking for a 7X57 for a long time.  Would take a .450 as well.
