Encore Weaver scope base

What's the best way of supporting the Weaver base end that hangs over the barrel taper, it seems a bit too flexible for my liking. Should I fill the gap with epoxy or drill and tap and use a small bolt/screw to support it? I want to mount the scope as far forward as possible using extended rings.

The Warne-weaver mount is very rigid...  no problem with it.

I think the Warne mount is the best out there. JMHO.  :D
