Lee's new .45LC bullet mold
« on: February 27, 2003, 06:29:59 AM »
Just ordered Lee's new .45LC 160 gr bullet.  Getting the 6-cav mold.  Cost is $50 plus $3 shipping.  Midway would probably have it cheaper but they don't have it and it will be awhile till the do....and I can't wait

We, my pard and I, will be using this for reduced loads for our Mrs.'s.  Figure if they use our guns, of course before they get their own, this will keep the recoil down to more lady-like levels.

Will keep you posted and will post a picture or two, once it comes in and I cast a few.  Only thing is that the lube groove is small like Lee's other .45LC bullets.  This is OK for us as we aren't using anywhere near full power loads.
p.s. you can see a picture of the bullet in the latest issue of Shooting Times.  Lee has an ad in there and it shows its 4 new bullet shapes

Up date:
Turns out the mold only comes in 2-cav size :(
Forgot how long it takes to mold bullet two at a time rather than 6 at a time.  Lee says that if mold is popular they will make a 6-cav version.  Right now would cost $150 to get one (and that's more than I ever plan to spend on a mold, or ever 3 of them)
Bullets look good, if not small.  Will post a pic of them this week-end.  My pard will be using them for his Mrs.  She has shoulder and hand problems and he wants to have some light loads for her.  .38's aren't an option right now because of $$.
My Lyman 250 gr and Lee 200 gr .45LC bullets use the same settings on the Lyman 4500 sizer/luber.  Hoping that the settings will work for this one, too.  I hate to have to change settings.
more as it develops
