7 STW

I have a 7 STW and I really like it. Mine is not a Ruger #1, I have a bolt action. I have a Remington Mountain rifle in 280 that i have shot for along time, and I was wanting to get a Ruger #1 in a 280, but could not find a clean used one when I ran across the 7 STW.  My 7STW has a muzzle break and I was really surprised that the recoil of the 280 is more than the 7 STW. This I am sure is due to the muzzle break.  I would love to have a Ruger #1 in the 7 STW.  If you get one let me know how you like it as I am thinking about getting one also.

I have a #1 in 7STW.  Or, maybe I should say, my 15 year old son has the rifle.  He wanted something that would reach out and touch something.  Well, he got it and more.  The first time at the range the gun was shot a 10 or 12 times and then put away.  It kicked so much that no one wanted any more punishment.  We had Answer Products put a brake on the rifle.  Now the gun kicks less that a .308.  The son can put three shots in the same hole at 300m.  The #1 and 7STW make a great combination.  When he hits a deer, it does not move.

The 7mmSTW was developed by Layne Simpson and the staff at Shooting Times. You might call it a 7 mag with an attitude. Designed as a flat shooting open country (thus the minicker Western) round suited to distant shooting of medium sized game.
Before this round was popular a friend of mine purchased a Ruger #1  in either 7mm or 280 Rem and had it chambered to the STW. It was a simple operation and greatly enhanced the rifles capabilities. Best of luck. POW

I think the case is basically a 8mm Rem Mag necked down to 7mm.  Which, of course, would be a blown out 300 or 375 H&H necked down.
