I recently bought a 710 and it is in 270 and it is a good shooter It will do 3/4 of an inch with factory loads. does anyone else own one of these. I have heard some bad stuff on them. share your stories

friend has 1 in 270.added harris bipod,sling.shoots it as is.gets his deer every year with it.he shots 130 gr.factory loads only.we shot prarie dogs with it.i had some 150gr.federals they pretty much shot the same as federal 130gr.he had sighted in with.i think he had it since 2001.same bushnell scope.he probaly shoots 100 or lees rounds a year.no problems.

I dont own one but have been looking at one. There is a recall on some. Go to the Remington site and you can enter your ser # and it will tell you right now ifin its one of the recalled ones. The recalled ones seem to be some of the earlyer models.

I have never heard as many horror stories about a rifle as I have the 710. But personally, I suggested it to a cousin over a year ago and that thing out of the box is one VERY accurate shooter. Walmarts price was too cheap to pass up.

I know the majority of people out there may scoff at it, but for the price and to have the scope almost on target out of the box, is a great deal. Its not an eye catcher, but it does the job.

i own one in 30.06 and havent had a problem with it. i like it, it is accurate and it loads nice. it was alittle stiff to rack in another shell to begin with but it has smoothed out with use. one thing i find that it kicks alot harder than some other 30.06s i have shot, i guess becaues its lighter. i have had scope eye on more than one occasion :roll:

i personally think that if you can save up more money and wait for a Model 700 that you are way ahead of the game. the 710 should not have been brought out before it was better-engineered. it is not worthy of the Remington name from stories i used to read of it. and the button-rifled barrel will probably not last near as many rounds as what the hammer-forged barrel will last in chrome-moly.

the Model 700 is a longstanding favorite, helping to establish Remington as number 1 in rifle sales -- i believe, because it is a very good design and it works very well.

I agree. I know that it gets the job done, but I think that Remington cut too many corners in the reciever, stock. One could buy a Savage with a scope for about the same price, and probably shoot as well, probably better. That said, I dearly love my 700s. I wouldnt buy a 710, but that's what make the world go 'round! I hope that everyone likes theirs and hunt succesfully with them.
