A Hunt
« on: May 16, 2003, 01:50:13 PM »
Another "gray Beard" as in we are, and I are interested in a wild boar hunt.  we are both recovering from surgery and will be ready by  this fall. He stepped out of his tree stand and landed on his heels. Me they replaced my hips. So we are ready to go hunting this fall or there after. We live in central Iowa but would travel to both coasts if it looked like a good hunt. Would appreciate you input, not bowhunters but long range, on down would work.
Jim

WOW!     Now that was a great response.  We dont have hogs in the U.P of Michigan . . . at least not any that a person could hunt unless he was into fenced inclosures.  Howie, you are a gentleman and all around good guy!!!!! :-D

Just for what it's worth, I have a listing of several wild boar lodges if you want to check it out. It's at: http://www.accs.net/users/drquick/wildboar.html  Dave

Yep, I've heard of an area right around here too. There is a rumored bunch running around in the woods around Thorntown, Indiana, but I although I have heard of them for years, I have never run into any one who has actually seen them... Problem is (in Indiana) it's all farm fields, and getting hunting permission is a near impossibility... although in recent years, since the deer population has grown, more farmers and land owners are allowing at least some hunting, since the deer are doing huge crop damage...

where  i  gre  up  there  was  alot  of  hardwoods  and  creeks  so  i  see  how  hogs  could  survive  in  the  northern  part    would assume  there  to  be  lots  of  hogs   if  let  run  wild
