Switch from Blind Mag to Hinged Floorplate?
« on: September 27, 2005, 01:52:24 PM »
I have a Savage 10FP, on which I replaced the stock with something more likable.  My main reason for asking this question is for those times where I need to get my rounds out of the magazine (it holds up to four rounds).  When necessary, I don't like having to cycle individual rounds into and out of the chamber.  Too inconvenient, and makes for an even harder time clearing a misfeed if it happens.  Any ideas on whether it is possible to customize the stock some way and convert it to a hinged floorplate?  Thanks for any help.

I don't find a hinged floorplate version of the savage bolt in my parts books. They make a detachable box mag version and a fixed floorplate version(there are a LOT of  different variations). Perhaps a call to Savage would be in order.  They seem to have a good service dept.. Custom metal would be another abeit expensive alternative.  The last alternative would be a custom bottom metal fabricated by yourself.
