dont put your 6 volt battery out of a motorized decoy in your blind bag if you have shells in it. the battery can arc out on a shell and it will start a fire. duck shells and fire dont mix. yes this did happen to me. i am ok but it scared the L out of me.

I see you found that shells in a fire arn't really dangerous. I suspect the battery shorted on the brass and started something else in the bag on fire then the shells burned up. The powder burns with a nasty flash and the primers will definately startle you. When we were kids we threw 22 shels in the fire. With no barrel the bullets just pop out, you get some sparks and a pop from the primer. We were too dumb to think of eye protection and I am sure that the potential for an eye injury was there.
Years later in the millitary, I was told I could not keep a box of 22 shells in my steel locker because of the danger if the building burned. I tried to enlighten the sargent but that was a waist of time.

I dropped a .44 mag cartridge, it hit on something, went off, the case flew back, hit my foot, bruised it, the bullet stuck in the wall. Exploding shells can be dangerous. This was prob'ly a fluke, but they happen.
