Forgive me O Soot Lord, for I have sinned
« on: July 22, 2006, 08:39:04 PM »
After shooting nothing but black powder loads for SASS since I started, I got lazy and tried a batch of heathen smokeless loads using Trail Boss powder and Laser Cast bullets.  Know what happened?  My times improved by about 10 or 15 seconds per stage, and my misses went way down.  My last two matches were so close to being "clean," it almost hurt to see the first puff of dust from a miss.  It's been happenning along about stage 5.  Plus, the skin doesn't get burned off my fingers during long shotgun strings on hot days.

I'll be going back to Goex in the fall, when pouring rains wash the fouling away, and keep my shotgun barrels cool, but the pull of the "non-dark" side certainly has it's appeal.  This could get to be a summer time habit, even if I don't win my "you're the only guy shooting this category" ribbons.

Yeah, well, I guess you ain't entirely ruined by the newfangled smokeyless powder craze that has taken over the land. So long as you come to your senses by fall, then there is hope for you.
Less misses? Ya mean you could actually see sumptin'? It just means Less misses, means less fun is all.
I myself will shoot CAS with a slingshot, before I give up my BP. You'll be back once you get that speed and seeing targets nonsense out of your system.  :)

Yes sir, I will! ;D

Just want one clean match, or a finish in the top 25% overall, and cool enough weather to keep the shotgun barrels from scorching my tender pea pickers on long strings.  Then, I'll go to confession and return to the fold.
