Anyone have any experience with these in a .25-06 against a hog?

I personally wouldn't reccomend a quarter bore for hogs unless mabye from a treestand. Do you have something bigger you can use?

I will be hunting a stand over a sizable cut, and my 25-06 is my long range gun. If a hog shows up, (there is a wallow on one side of the cut) I want to be able to break his neck! I do have my doubts about a shoulder shot,even with a bigger cal., but even a big boar can be KO'd with a good ole spinebuster.

I've shot 6 hogs with behind the shoulder shots with a 50 gr .223.  All of them where grave yard dead.  The furthest any of them ran was 70 yards.  All the bullets were complete pass through shots.

The toughest part of a hog is the front of his chest.  I think a .25-06 would be fine.

That's a diffrent story, I would think any el-cheapo bullet would work great for that.

You are a true "hoganator" Reynolds. What size hogs, and what type bullet? My concern about shoulder shots is due to how a hogs heart/lung area lies low and forward,and is basically surrounded by chest and those gristle wrapped, mud packed shoulder plates. http://www.texasboars.com/anatomy.html  
they have a really neat, but graphic, series of an hog being taken apart and it really gives alot of insight as to how these tanks are built.

A few other bullets to look at...the 120 grain Nosler partition...and the 110 grain Accubond...both should do as well...even the Barnes Triple Shocks 100-115grain should work pretty good..They are all suppose to hold together quite well and give good penatration...I couldn't get the Bear Claws to shoot accurate for me out of my other 25-06 Handi...but that may be different with my new one...

I shoot the TSX bullets in my 25-06 and they don't come apart, they are the most accurate 25 cal bullet I have ever used. You be well armed with your 25-06 with thes bullets hunting hogs.

Recently someone shot a TSX bullet into a clay bank at 100yrds I think eh recovered the bullet perfectly mushroomed with only 1.0 gr loss in weight. Myself I have never recovered a TSX bullet nor have I found any parts of one in Mule and Whitetailed deer. I would not hesitate to use the 25-06 on elk with these bullets.

Another testimonial.

Here's a 30 cal 168 TSX that came from the soft, loamy, moist soil behind my 400 yard target. It started at 2,855 fps from my 30-06 and would have impacted at 2,075 fps. It weighs 167.7 gr's and opened to just over .600" diameter. The impact velocity of the 140 TSX / 7mm-08 would be nearly identical.

Your 25/06, with approprate bullets,  will be fine for your hog harvesting purposes. I would prefer a well constructed 120 gr bullet, but truthfully and bullet over 100 grs should do the trick.
