Fired my Omega Z5 with Bushnell BP scope today. Only shot at 25 yards because of 40 to 50 mph winds today. Was very pleased, clover leaf groups, 5 shots without cleaning. Was using 100 grains of American Pioneer ffg and 295 grain Powerbelts, 45acp conversion. Cleaned up easy, and Powerbelts loaded easily without any cleaning between shots........

please let me know how that load performs.  i tried ffg APP and 295 PB's out of my omega and it didn't shoot worth a crap at 100 yards.  I had holes all over the cardboard and off it!

Will try at 100 yards, maybe tomorrow. Also will try 777 pellets and 348 grain Powerbelts in the Omega Z5 which my Pursuit LT shot well.......................

I ended up shooting 90 grains of regular 2F pyrodex out of mine with a 348 PB, shot very well at 100 yards.

BTW, just now noticed you were from ponca city.  I am originally from Stillwater went to H.S. and college there, still have family back there and tons of hunting places.  Sure do miss it sometimes, but I go back every fall for hunting.

I lived in Arkansas City Kansas most of my life, moved to Ponca about 3 years ago. Big Oklahoma State Cowboy fan though! Wish I had a bunch of hunting areas, only have 2 around here so far.( besides Kaw Wildlife area.which is dangerous with all the hunters!!!)

I suppose a Kansas boy such as yourself pronounces that river the ArKansas river.  You'll find Okies don't take to kindly to that pronuciation.  LOL.

What all do you hunt?  You got a place to rifle hunt yet?

Yep, it's the R Kansas river. Hunting Saturday  ( crossbow) near Newkirk, will BP and rifle hunt there too, unless I can find a better place......... :grin:

Private property I assume?   Have much luck around there?

All my property is right around Stillwater.   I will be home for the Thanksgiving holiday.  If your interested I could probably let you hunt with me for a day or two.  Whoever I take with me has to actually be present with me, so I can't get you permission, but you can hunt while I'm there.

Then again you may not want to drive that far.  Newkirk is a lot closer to you than Stillwater.

Thats fine.  Shoot me a pm when it gets a little closer to Thanksgiving and I'll see what I've got.  I usually hunt Thursday thru Sunday of Thanksgiving week.

Did you take any deer off that 80 acres last year?

Yes, a doe.......saw a nice 10 point buck during bow season, never got close enough to shoot and never saw him during BP or gun seasons........passed on some does and small fork horn bucks.......jumped a spike Sunday when I was scouting

What does the "Z5" designation mean? I'm a big Omega fan. It is the last BP rifle I will ever buy. Was at the range yesterday next to a guy with a CVA 209 inline, don't know what model it was. He kept talking about how great his rifle was...in between misfires. He must have pulled the trigger on just a primer pop more than ten times. I had the same thing happen with the two CVA rifles that I bought - and returned.

The Z5 is just an economy model of the regular Omega. They used somewhat cheaper sights and less fancy finish on the barrel but as far as function it is the same as the expensive one. If you are mounting a scope then the only difference is the barrel exterior finish as the sights would not make any difference.

Yes, sights are different, but still very good sights, but I use a scope on it. Don't know if finish is different since I haven't seen the other Omegas, but it darn sure is a shooter. Beats my Pursuit LT and Encore 209X50...........
