Banded front sight for Ruger Bisley, where?
« on: September 29, 2005, 03:18:42 AM »
Just bought my first single-action revolver, a Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt.  I also bought a .357 cylinder to have reamed to .45ACP.

I plan to have an action job done and the barrel shortened.  I really like the look of banded front sights and would like to have one fitted.  Are these available to purchase or are they custom made?

Would also like to take some of the sharp edges off the top strap, anyone ever seen that done?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Bowen Classic Arms makes the Nimrod model which I believe has a banded front sight.

I believe barrel bands are integral which means a new barrel is required. Beats me why they aren't an add-on kind of thing since they mostly keep the ejector housing from flying off.

I'd be interested to know if your 357 will fit into the 45 frame. I seem to remember new model 357s are slightly different in dimension when I was considering doing the same thing.

Thanks GB, I was wondering why the notification wasn't working.  I'll deal with it right now.
