I have a Marlin 1894H in .45 Colt I bought at Big 5 but have never shot it. I also have an older 1894 in .44 Magnum that I have used and it gives me as much accuracy as I can take advantage of. Although it has a Microgroove barrel, it shoots very well with lead bullets as long as I make sure they size at 0.432" to 0.433". People are now coming to realize the .45 Colt in the lever gun is more capable than the .44 Mag, and I would like to get rid of the .44 and switch to the .45 but I have no idea what kind of accuracy it (this rifle) is capable of. Does anyone have an 1894 in .45 Colt, and what will it do? Thanks.

I have a 1894 Cowboy in 45 Colt  and  have found it to be very accurate. It possesses all the accuracy I can use and plenty for the task at hand and is one of my favorite leverguns.

Ditto what TNrifleman said as I too have an 1894 Cowboy Competition in .45 colt that is extremely accurate for a lever action. This rifle is my all time favorite.

Scrounger, Why don't you shoot it, then you will know for sure what your rifle will do. Rifles are not all the same in the accuracy deptarment. Regards, Byron

I have been debating between a Marlin 1894CB Competition and LSI Puma 92 Rifle. Both are in 45 Colt. My intention is a companion rifle for my 45 Colt Ruger Super Blackhawk for hunting purposes.  Both rifles are used, but ever so slightly.  I intend to shoot the same 45 loads for rifle and revolver.  Current flavor is a Penn Bullet 270gr Thunderhead over 25.0gr of H110.  Stiff in the Ruger, but well within the realm of shootable.

I posted on these two rifles in the "Lever Action Rifle" section and got a fairly overwelming response to go for the Puma.  I finally sold enough "stuff" to pick up one and its down to the wire now.  

Where ya'll say your Marlins are very accurate....can you put some more detail behind it....range, group size, loads, etc.?
