Accurate Encore
« on: October 01, 2005, 10:33:02 AM »
Well I am confused.  I really enjoy accurate high power center fire rifles.  What should I expect from an 270 Encore.  Any suggested short cuts to getting an accurate one.  Is the problem with the barrel or the frame or both.  When I hear about groups in the 3-5 inch category I cringe.
Gun needs to shoot 3 shot groups of at least 1 inch or better.  Not trying to start an argument just looking for honest answers before I take the plunge.   John

I have 4 Encore frames and different barrels on them. My accuracy is great in all of them. I have had great success with Encore barrels. I have owned several different calibers and all shot well. I am sure you will get stories of people that have had problems, but that happens with most gun makers. There is not secret to getting a good barrel, just buy one and try it out.  :D

Although this thread probably belongs elsewhere, I will take another shot. I curently own two Encore rifles, three Encore handguns, and two Encore shotguns.  I have never had an Encore rifle or handgun that would not group under an inch at 100 yards - the .223's I own will go easily 1/2" and could probably do better if I were capable.

Mine will do 1" @100 with pistol and rifle barrels.  The secret is to find out what makes them sing.  Of course, that is no different than any other rifle I have owned.  I had to put washers under the forend and find the right load and with a 250 Sav 21" barrel and a 30.06 15" pistol barrel I am now getting the right groups.

By the way, it took me a while to find out how to shoot the pistol.  The proper hold and technique is required for consistent grouping.  The first groups I shot were the 3-5" variety.
