Complaints?
« on: October 04, 2005, 11:15:42 AM »
Are we allowed to complain about a particular vendor here?

I ordered 2 milsurp rifles last Thurs.  Good news - I received them today.

Bad new, aside from overall rifle condition being (IMHO) only marginally accurate, they charged my credit card (actually a debit card - direct from my checking account) TWICE for the same order and have failed to address the situation.  This despite an email to customer service on Sunday (unanswered as of 5PM Tuesday) and 2 phone calls today (Tues) at 9AM and again at 4PM.  What really ticked me off was that, on my last call, I was told they were "too busy to look into it right now!"

Who was it???  Its good to pass on info about vendors good or bad it sure redirects where my business goes.  Probably the worst vendor so far is hunter lodge with its 2 for $50 tomato stake mexican mausers and its $40 shipping rates.  I was about to order from them when a poster on another site posted buyer beware about his experience with them.  It saved my butt for sure.  The internet connects all of us it reaches out to many more of us quicker much more than the old word of mouth did in the past. I think it can redirect the business to the dealers who are on the ball. We need to weed out the "I'm too busy ones???"

On my good list so far its;

AIM SURPLUS  (any problems just email Erik)  rating *****  ( I did have a problem once and one email to Erik and it was fixed he is good people to deal with.  I have recieved some great deals from AIM in the past. I jumped on a $79 yugo 59/66 dark bore special that turned out to be a brand new sks much better than the "like new ones" a while back.)

Empirearms     (I have never heard a bad word about Dennis yet everyone has been happy with their purchase so Empire arms gets my vote, he under rates his guns so their actually a better condition than what he says.)  rating *****

SOG  (all my orders have been ok so far what i have recieved)
                                                                         rating *****

Samco  (I had one problem but they corrected it right away, but its a buyer beware right now on kit bashed left over thrown together swede's I have heard reports on bad $1,200 snipers.  Lets face it we hit the bottom of the barrel on swede's.)
rating ****  (I give them 4 stars for quick customer service)

Century arms (some good deals on ufixem's "sometimes" otherwise just ok nothing special.) rating *****

For ammo & supplies so far its been; Midsouth shooters supply, midwayusa, the armory, sportsmans guide, brownells &  outdoor marksman and some give discounts for C&R FFL holders too.

I'll leave it alone, for now.

After two more conversations late this afternoon, vendor is blaming it on the credit card company, but states they were told to issue a credit (by the credit card company).

So I'll give it a couple days for verification - but, ultimately I guess I will never know who was really responsible.

I'll just say that  there is one vendor on your 'good list' that I will hesitate to order from in the future.

 Was it Military Gun Supply out of Ft. Worth, TX?  I purchased several items from them AT GUN SHOWS, and had good experiences.  I know of several cases where people dealing by mail had problems and they either refuse, or took their time in correcting the matter.

From what I have seen and heard, they don't know the meaning of customer service.  They got a little upset about the "bad mouthing" on this site a while back, and made some rather harsh statements to one of the members.  I quit doing business with them after that.

rockbilly - no, never done business with them.

As of this afternoon, I finally see a pending credit posted to my bank account.  So, I guess my only complaint is a lack of timely response - and questionable condition on one rifle/bayonet combo.

I guess, ordering milsurp, sight unseen, is a real crapshoot. Sometimes gunshow purchases, even at $20 - $40 more, are a bargain!
