Bolt Removal
« on: October 05, 2005, 04:06:05 AM »
How in the heck do I get the bolt out of my Model 700?  The little button in front of the trigger is not releasing it.  Is there something I'm missing other than just pressing in on that little button?
For what it's worth, the little button feels kinda stuck, like it's not moving.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

You realy have to push that square front button in and hold it in while you remove the bolt. I usually hold the gun im my left hand and push the button in with the left index finger. Then pull the bolt out with you right hand while still pushing in the button.

Hi
Take a thin bladed screw driver, open the bolt most of the way. You can see the bolt release on the left side, push it down with the screw driver, the blade needs to be skinnie enough to fit in to it. Push down near the reciever, pull the bolt out the rest of the way. You will need to remove the screw driver once the lugs clear the start of the bolt release. If that does not do it, remove the rifle from the stock and push the bolt release with your finger. This might be the best idea and check to see if the little square in front of the trigger is binding some where. Try it out of the stock, if it works, it maybe rubbing on the stock some where.
Good luck
