optima group problems
« on: October 11, 2005, 12:35:44 PM »
I have an optima in .45, I am shooting pyrodex and 185gr sabots. I started my loads at 80gr of pyrodex on up to 120. I can't get a bullet to hit within 2 feet of the previous, scope rings and mounts are tight and I even changed scopes...should I look for another gun? Has anyone else had these problems?

i had an optima pro in 45 cal and had the same problems,  after a lot of shooting, the best laod i found was 300 gr powerbelts and two pyrodex pellets. The pellets were a lot better grouping that the powder, why i can't tell you. Even when i had the gun shooting good, i wiuld still get a flyer that was off 12 inches or so. a 6 inch group at 92 yaeds was the best i cound do. Finally i got rid of it and bought a knight disk elete, now shooting is fun again. Check out www.chuckhawks.com for more gun reviews.
