I am in search of the mfr of a couple of brakes I had installed some time ago. It was three letters like KDM or ADM or something. I am wanting a screw on cap to protect the threads when the brake is removed. I am hopping the mfr can provide same. Local shop where the work was contracted long gone.

Most brakes are standard thread sizes so a cap should be no problem. What do you have the brakes on and how do you like them?

I have one on a model 70 win in 7mm mag it seems a little to long of a barrel. The other is on a model 77 Ruger in 338. I like them fine for developing loads and testing them on the bench really tames the recoil. I was thinking getting a "lead sled" for the bench and retiring the brakes.

KDF has threas sizes from 7/16x28 to 5/8x24. Depends on muzzle diameter and bore size. A cap would be a simple thing to make or have made if one's not readily available. Brownells handles the KDF line.

I talked to Brownells today and the tech said they (KDF) offer no caps in their line, but its a option when you order the brake. I will try and contact them. I am not wanting to spend an arm and leg. Shooting and hunting with the brakes is ok, my hearing is gone now so I use the Walker electronic muffs. The lead sled appealed to me as working on loads for a 16" 44 mag Marlin and this little toy will beat you up on the bench.

I've used cheater bags for years. Even a 30-30 has a cumulative effect. A good friend once rold me that while recoil didn't bother him, he could only stand so much fun! How do you like the GameEars in the hunting woods?
