I keep a close check on certain pawn shops quite reguarly. The one's I check seem to have a tfor turning over guns quickly, so they but them often and folks needing quick money usually frequent them.
Last month I found a compensated H&R slug gun and a Tracker I at the same shop and left with both. Earlier this year I found a new .357 Max at another shop. I always see NEF/H&R shotguns and the prices are usually pretty decent.
As far as gun shops. I've had a couple in south central PA comment that the used gun market has been slower than normal throughout the spring and summer. Typically, I been told, that this is the time of the year that guys will start trading for new stuff. So I'm usually out an about each weekend. I've also been told that after Christmas is good.
Lately, the guns shows have been disappointing. I agree that they are overpriced at the moment and I've notice that the attendance has been down at the last couple I've been to, so I think the sellers are less willing to negotiate. There is a husband and wife who are on the PA circuit and they have told me that the rising gas prices have hurt a lot of the seller's and the expenses trickle down to the buyer. The organizers are asking more for the tables, and with seller attendance down, guns aren't moving, so the turnover money is thin. Therfore we all suffer. Maybe true, maybe not.
Good Luck.
