LBT Hardness tester.. what's your opinion?
« on: October 08, 2005, 06:03:56 AM »
I'd like to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly from owners.

I was all set to buy one cause I heard they were great, but just read a comment to the contrary at another site.

thanks,
Ian

Well I got an LBT and a Cabine tree and both work quite well the Cabine tree is a big machine but will check ingots where the LBT is smaller and easier to use except you can only measure a pretty short bullet .{ most all mine are 500 +   I have taken to casting bullets out of am old flatpoint pistol mould for testing alloys as it makes everything more consistant ,they dont have to be good ,just solid . both are good machines and both are repeatable with one thing to keep in mind. THE OPERATOR  the more consistant the operator is the more accurate is the tool . my friend has a Saeco and it is OK but is not as easy to use as is the other two .in my opinion.......................... I've got the LBT, and within five minutes of starting using it for the first time, I had tested several of my bullets. It reads the BHN number directly off of a scale with a pointer pointing to the hardness, and could not be easier to use. No measurements, no calculations, no estimations needed.

The way it's built, my great grandchildren will be using it, assuming they aren't using ray guns by that time.
