Any reports on the Gaucho?
« on: October 04, 2005, 09:18:46 PM »
Does anybody have any info on the new Gaucho SA revolvers?  I'd like to know how they are holding up.  After all $500 is not a lot to pay for a gun these days so I'm think'n ya can't build a lot of quality into a gun for that price but maybe the folks at Taurus are really in their groove with this one.  Hope so.

:cb2: If it says Taurus on it anywhere, that's enough to keep me from buying one. Sorry, that sounds real negative, but so have my experiences with Taurus.

Yeah, that's the word from a lot of folks and so it'll be a long time before I get one but who knows, maybe they got their act together on this one.

There are a fair number of cowboy action shooters that have tried the new Taurus, maybe you could ask them over on sassnet.com.  That would be more accurate than me giving you second hand news from over there. :D

Dusty, I haven't been able to shoot one, but I have handled them and I'm very impressed.  The overall fit and feel of the guns is very good and the action is great.  Taurus has given the guns a lifetime warranty so that is a plus also.  If they were making the 4 3/4" SS version yet, I would probably already own one but it looks like Ruger may get me a New Vaquero stainless in that barrel length first.  44 Man

Timothy, you can put Colt grips on it to fix that problem.  Most of my clones have eagle and rampant Colt grips.  Actually, I think the big logo on the barrel is worse than the grips, but that can always be polished off.  (at least it is not as bad as the paragraph and a half that Ruger stamps on the barrels - I have to polish that off too!)  Not a bad gun for the money.  And the stories I have heard about Taurus quality all come from many years ago, they are building good guns now.  44 Man
