336 hard to load

I have one I bought recently in 30-30 and when I try to load a shell in the gun it seems like the rim of the shell is hanging up on the loading gate.It is very hard to push in.Is this normal or what is the cure?thanks,a newbie with marlins. sj

well,I figured out my own problem.I took a small,round stonein my dremel and smoothed out the part the rides on top of the shell as it goes in.It had a nick and some roughness.After I smoothed it up and got the nick out,it works fine now. :grin:  sj

Sjones -

I noticed on my 336 the ammo makes a big difference in how easy the cartridges slide into the loading gate. Remington seem to hang up on the loading gate and take a fair amount of effort to push into the magazine tube. A lot of shoving and pinched fingertips. Winchester Silvertips slide right in with little or no effort at all. I'm guessing it's the bullet "profile" which is a little different on each. The Winchesters let me get a little better angle relative to the magazine tube than the Remingtons.

Zanardi,thanks,I hadn't thought about that,I might try that after I shoot up these 3 boxes of corlocs that I have. :-)
