Quick question about the Lee hand press.

Can I use my RCBS shell holders with the Lee or do I need the universal shellholder kit from Lee?

Did a quick search and couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, got the part about the dies.

What about the shellholders. I've got a bunch for the Rock Chucker. Do I need Lees' or can I use what I've got already?

Do I need this? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/vertical-pod3.jsp?rid=&indexId=cat20847&navAction=push&navCount=24&cmCat=MainCatcat20712&parentType=index&parentId=cat20847&id=0004242 .

Thanks for the Quick reply Quick. I've got Cabelas open in another window...

I've used Lyman, RCBS and Hornady shell holders in my Lee Cast press, so I think they're pretty much standard, although the shell holder part  numbering system sure isn't consistent!!!

Thanks Quick.

I'll give the RCBS units that I have a whirl and see what happens.

Nixter, all I use in my Lee hand press is RCBS shell holders.

I started out with a Lee hand press, and then I bought a Compac hand press from Huntingtons.com. I like it a lot better.  More leverage, perfect ram/die alignment, smoother operation, practically no "spring" to the press. I still use my Lee with a universal deprimer before tumbling since it catches all the primer debris in the hollow ram. It holds about 30 WLP primers before needing to be dumped.  Keeps my easy chair cleaner...

YMMV,

Andy

I pulled the ram out of my Lee hand press and had the primer catcher hole deepened by about twice. It is much better now that it will hold twice as many spent primers. I'm sure it could be done with a vise and a hand drill also, just don't go too deep and break out the bottom.

Nix, do you have wild pigs in your area, as they do in SW Wisconsin? I understand they want to eradicate them, wherever they are, as they are so destructive, which is makin me lick my chops!!! JD45
