Boys, owning a Savage is one thing but owning a Sav 99 ( pre-mil) is all together a different story. Course if your lucky enough to own more than one then you must be one happy camper.
Todays Savages (bolt action type) are certainly right up there in accuracy and such. Can get one in just about any caliber. I`ve had a 110 in .243 since 1965, topped it off with a Redfield scope and never looked back. It was my primary gun of choice for years and killed plenty of deer. Loved it.
Along the line i got a 99f in .250.(pre-mil), the .243, that i carried all those years, now rests in a gun case. Something about a 99 that changes your out look on hunting. Not only does that puppy shoot well it brings back the past. Truly a hunters gun, IMO. Guys that own-um know exactly what i mean.
Recently i aquired a 99R in .300 (pre-mil). Came with an old weaver scope (66circa). Been looking for one of these of a long time.
Took it to the range last week and it didn`t let me down. Shot great.
This deer season it looks like the .300 will be tucked under my arm.
Sure would like to know the "history" on both these guns. Who owned them, how many deer they`ve killed. As both are over 50 years old, you know both have been there...done that . May "letter" both guns at a latter date.
As GB gave SAVAGE owners their own site i figured i`d take it one step further with the 99 class. No offense to anyone, just another proud Savage 99 owner.
