Ammo for Ranger Compact
« on: October 23, 2005, 01:39:42 PM »
Taking my son on youth hunt Saturday w/ .357. We've been practicing with 38 special rounds this summer.

Any recommendations on what grain and brand to shoot whitetails within 75 yards with the Winchester Ranger Compact?

The Buffalo Bore 180gr is the best IMHO. Fast, big meplat will punch right through well past 100. Will bleed out quick, even a quartering shot.

The Remington express or Winchester partition gold in 180 will be OK, although they are not in the same class as Buffalo Bore.

Where are you located? I might be able to help if you are near Asheville, NC
Thanks to you''uns from WNC,

Tim at Buffalo Bore says they can only ship ground, so getting them to you in time to sight in might be a challenge unless you are in Ideeho.
