Win 1200 action opening after fireing.
« on: October 15, 2005, 04:35:46 PM »
Well I finally shot my Win1200 riot gun today that I had just bought and it was defective at least in my mind after every shot the action opened about 3/4 of the way. I shot about 12 times with trap loads and it happened every time. Now I took it back got my money back but the gun shop guys said it did not do it for them. I know what I seen and it to me was not normal. The guy first tried to tell me that it was Winchesters assisted opening but I find it hard to believe that it should open 3/4 of the way open and that was with light trap loads I would bet a heavy load would have opened it up all the way. Any one else se this happen? First the guy said it was supposed to do that then they told me they could not make it do that? Of course I did not see them shoot it as they shoot down in basement and no one can go down there unless you are a employee. So in mid stream they changed their story. I will stick with my 870.

my 1300 did that, its supposed to, according to the literature that came with the gun. it supposedly speeds up your next shot by doing some of the pumping for you.

in fact if you shoot it without holding the forearm it will unlock via the rotary bolt head and open the action all the way for you and eject the shell.

I don't think there is a problem with the gun either. Opening of the action depends on how the gun is held. I have heard shooters of other makes complain of the same thing. It is especially common with slug shooters during sighting in, (including the Rem 870). It is caused by the way the gun moves on the bags, but it always freaks them out.

Well I will stick with my 870 and for the record I was not shooting on bags but offhand if its supposed to do it fine but its water over the damn now I got my money back and glad I did as the gunsmith told me if the plastic part breaks infront of the trigger guard they are pretty much junk I prefer a gun that you can get parts for and fix as he said you can get the part but the mag tube is pressed in and once out you cannot get it to fit back in place.
