I have a Stainless Sidekick that I am setting up with ironsights only to (maybe) one day take to Colorado to hunt Elk.

It does OKAY with the 345 gr. PowerBelts, but I am looking for other bullets to try. My specs? Bullet has to be a solid (non-saboted) projectile weighing less than 350 grains, load easily in the Sidekick with the collaspable ramrod, be accurate with up to 100-110 grains of loose Pyrodex Select @ 100 yards and be tougher than the 295 gr. Powerbelts...

I'd like a 2 inch group (rested) at 100 yards.

How do the 295 Gr. Maxi-Balls load/shoot in this gun?

I cast my own, use my home brew lube and they shoot just fine. They are heavier then what your calling for, but as other light bullets shoot fine, so should yours. I've driven a couple down the bore and out the bottom, (forgot the powder), and the rifling engraves well.
Here's what I do and works o.k.
Use a lot of T/C breechplug grease,
Crack the breechplug when I remember, (the kleenbore primers seem to really help)
I run a patch with borebutter down the bore between shots,
Load 80-90 grains of Pyrodex select, whatever works for you,
load a bullet,
and use a Remington kleanbore primer.
I really like the maxiballs, I've actually flipped deer clean over with them. A big slug of lead is a cool thing.

I think I may be off on the weight of the Maxi-Balls, is it 325 grain???

I beleive they make the Maxis starting at about 270 gr. or so. Another great choice is the Buffalo Bullet Company Ball-Et. They are half hollow base conical in the back and half roundball in the front. For the .50 they come in 245 gr. and 270 gr. I beleive. I use the 245`s for Whitetails, very accurate bullet, but haven`t gotten to fire it at deer yet, but feel very confident it will work great. Jack.

When your buying store bought you have a range of choices, the Lyman mold casts (I think) 370grains. Considering how many deer I've seen out back (Zero) it won't matter much anyhow. Last year musta had a heck of winter kill. All year I've been seeing next to zilch out there, just a doe and twins.
