I am an old charcoal burner using a flinter and patched round balls and a percussion #11 cap and minie balls.

I am going to get a modern inline brand is irrelevent for this discussion.
What do I need to Know in order to get started in the modern inline muzzle loader shooting. What can I expect as far as accuracy?
What book do you recommend for me to read to get up to date?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences in advance.

the blackpowder handbook is good, as well as modern muzzleloading by Ian McMurphy are good starting references.

On a scoped rifle I'd be disappointed with groups larger than 1.5 inches at 100 yards and the majority of mine are sub one inch shooters with the proper load

You can expect excellent accuracy(Depending on the gun you chose)
My Encore 209x50 shoots 1in groups at 50yrds and 1.5in groups at 100yrds and I didn't have time to tweak it yet.
