Ruger M77 25-06 (is this a good buy on a used rifle) $300
« on: October 08, 2005, 05:34:06 AM »
I think I already know the answer to my question but I would like to hear what you all think.
I have the chance to buy a used Ruger M77 blue and wood, 25-06. The metal is in perfect shape and so is the bore. It has three or four fairly deep  1/4" to 1/2" scrapes in the rear butt stock but the rest of the rifle is very nice. I can pickup this rifle and two box's of ammo for $300. Is this a good buy?

Thanks

Does the rifle come with the scope rings? $300 is about the going rate round here but if you've got to shell out $30+ for a set of scope rings it wouldn't be such a hot deal. If no rings are present I'd just save a bit more and buy a new one a good shopper should be able to find one for round $400 +-.

Yeah it comes with rings too. I can actually pick up just the rifle for $275 but he wants an extra $25 for the two boxes of ammo.

The 25-06 is an excellent caliber. If you don't reload I would snap it up at that price. Sounds like a great deal to me. I recently bought a Ruger M77 tang safety from a guy I know. I'm really happy with this rifle.

Yes, you should, and don't look back afterwards!  Great price on a great gun.

If the stock damage is too much for you, you can also spend a few more $ and restock it with either a synthetic (Midway USA has a good selection) or a original wood.

I have walked by deals like this, and I still regret it ten years later.  Do it before it disappears.
