Light Primer hits
« on: October 16, 2005, 08:14:54 AM »
I have only had one misfire in about 50 rounds so far but my 7MM-08 seems to be hitting the primers a little in the light side. The dent is well centered but not very deep. Its a fairly new gun. Anyone else have this problem and or a solution? Thanks. I have only fired factory Remington , Federal and WW ammo so far. Its seems to like the 140 grain WW ballistic silvertips. They only chronograph @ 2617 fps but are pretty darn accurate.
shot placement is everything.

James,

Have you flushed the receiver out with brake cleaner? I haven't done this to mine, yet. Others here recommend it for new rifles.

James, the transfer bar can cause light or inconsistent pin strikes if it's not working properly(see Rick's post above) or if the trigger isn't pulled fully to the rear each time. This can also cause accuracy issues.

James B.

The Hammer spring on my rifle was restrained by the firing pin by 45oz which I reduced to 20oz read on.
