Anyone familair with the older Beretta Silver Hawks?
« on: November 07, 2005, 06:10:17 AM »
I just picked one up from my father-in-law, and its in pretty decent condition.  12ga, side by side, beavertail forearm, 28 inch bbls, and double triggers.

I was wondering about the chokes?   Reading the bottom of the monoblock under the barrels, it has the Beretta markins and says Choke, but it doesnt say what the choke is.   I am hoping its Imp. Cyl and modified.   does anyone recall what they were originally offered with?

Or does anyone know what they should mike in a dial caliper, I can measure the muzzles with my calipers.

As I remember the 28" bbls. were choked Mod/full.  And off the top of my head I can not for the life of me remember how many thousands for the different chokes.  Sorry.  Even if mod/full and compement gunsmith can open them to what ever constriction you want and it should be reasonable.  Great shotgun.

Thanks for the info.  I was thinkig they might be Full/mod.

I want to use it on Pheasants, and on skeet/sporting clays.    It is really tight.  I dont think he shot it much.   Thanks again.
